As chaotic as all of that is, nothing has interfered with the progress of two evolving data privacy regulations designed to protect the privacy of consumer information. Enforcement of the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), which took effect at the start of the year, officially started July 1. Meanwhile, the latest provision of the New York SHIELD Act took effect this past spring.
