NEW YORK & TEL AVIV, Israel–(BUSINESS WIRE)–BigID Inc., a leader in enterprise data protection and privacy, today announced that senior director of privacy strategy, Debra Farber, is assuming vice chair of the U.S. Technical Advisory Group (TAG) for establishing “Consumer Protection: Privacy by Design” as part of ISO Project Committee 317.
BigID’s @privacyguru assumes vice chair of US TAG for establishing global standard for consumer #privacy by design
American interests will be represented by members of the U.S. TAG, administered by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) in partnership with the OASIS standards and open source consortium. Members of the U.S. TAG represent America’s leading companies and government agencies committed to privacy rights for consumers.
“It is a tremendous honor to represent BigID on the U.S. TAG. I’m excited to contribute alongside such a decorated group of organizations dedicated to the establishment of a global set of regulatory-agnostic guidelines that embed privacy into products and services by design,” said Farber. “Privacy has become a defining 21st century social and corporate issue, yet, without a recognized standard, it has been extremely difficult to effectively embed into design and development – ISO/PC 317 will help embed privacy into consumer products and services on a global stage.”
Farber, JD, CISSP-ISSMP, CIPP/US/G/E, CIPT, CIPM, and Fellow in Privacy, brings over 14 years of experience and expertise in the privacy space to the U.S. TAG as vice chair. Prior to joining BigID, Farber leads key privacy and security initiatives for Visa, IBM, American Express, The Advisory Board Company, and several startups.
Farber’s work with the U.S. TAG will supplement her role with BigID and the company’s mission to transform how enterprises find, protect and govern personal data at scale. The BigID platform helps organizations replace inaccurate survey and spreadsheet-based privacy compliance with data-centric enterprise privacy management to enable global companies to meet emerging privacy and data protection regulations like the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CaCPA).
Based in the U.S., with engineering headquarters in Tel Aviv, Israel, and a European office in London, BigID was founded by veterans of the identity, data protection, and big data markets. BigID recently raised $30 million in Series B funding in June of 2018, less than five months after completing its $14 million Series A round.
